October 27, 2006 we decided to revisit Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The Riviera Maya, also known as the Mayan Riviera is a 130 km. long
stretch of Caribbean coastline that runs between the resort city
of Cancun to the north, down to the Mayan ruins of Tulum to the south.
The Riviera Maya is in the state of Quintana Roo.
The island of Cozumel,
Mexico's largest island is also part of the Riviera.
.
We made reservation at Golden Club of
The Gran Bahia Príncipe Riviera Maya Resort,
Above is formed by three 5 stars resorts:
Akumal, Tulum and Coba.
Since we already stayed at Tulum section, we decided to try Coba.

our buddy Captain Wolfe is getting his boat "anamo R" r e a d y ...

.
On October 27 our "very french" airline, Transat
flew us along the east coast of the U.S.,down to Florida,
then ("right") west between Keys and Cuba to
the Cancun International Airport.
This part ( to the right ) of the journey saved us one hour,
so we had some time
to taste "one Tequila, two T.. , three T....." at
"Jose Cuervo Tequileria".
After the tasting ritual,
we looked for our transportation to the hotel,
or really they looked for us ....hehehe .... strong Tequilas !
.
For your info. Tequila was a
pre-Hispanic town, located 56kms northeast of Guadalajara.
Nowadays it has a population of 30,000.
The hill of Tequila or hill of "Tetilla" is an extinct volcano.
However we were located (with the help of "GPS") and
our journey south started along the Riviera Maya coast
from the Cancun Airport to the Bahia Principe Resort.
.
First, we had to get out of the airport
on the highway 307...Carretera Federal.
On the way Luis Miguel greeted us with " Vuelve "........
we passed by haciendas, playgrounds, new construction sites and ...
. . .
. . .
. . .
and then the first hotels on the Riviera Maya
along the Carretera Federal # 307.
(this highway is now being widen.)

then passing along the Playa del Carmen.

"Playa" is what the locals call Playa del Carmen,
originally named Xaman-Ha [waters of the north].
More from Playa del Carmen later on ......
.
We are now 60 km. from Cancun Airport
and moving south .....
.
entering the Barcelo Hotel,
short stop at the Barcelo Hotel
. . .
. . .
. . .
passed the Copacabana,
then visiting Palladium Hotel.
Popular with couples and families, the ecological-oriented resort
shares 173 acres with an adjacent resort Colonial Palladium.
Consists of rainforest with wood bridges and thatched-roof pathways.
Each resort includes a flamingo pond and orchid garden.
Guests enjoy full access to both resorts' all facilities.
. . .
. . .
. . .
passed Grand Sirenis and Club Akumal Caribe,
Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya is a beautiful resort located in front
of the charming Riviera Maya beaches.Inside several Mayan Ruins,
perfectly preserved, impressive cenotes and 5 pristine beaches.
. . . . .
and then our destination Gran Bahia Principe Resort
just close to " Hacienda " where Doña Isabel resides
and finally inside the Bahia Principe Coba Resort.
